ABSTRACT

@#Congenital cleft lip and/or palate (CL/P) is a common malformation of maxillofacial development. At present, it is believed that the etiology of congenital cleft lip and palate mainly results from genetic factors and environmental factors. Epigenetic changes induced by environmental factors may be the key factor in the occurrence of fetal congenital malformations. As one of the important epigenetic modifications, DNA methylation has been widely and deeply studied in many fields, but as a link between the individual and the environment, its application in CL/P is limited. Existing studies have shown that DNA methylation is closely related to the occurrence of cleft lip and palate. Stimulation of folate deficiency, smoking, pollutant exposure and other environmental factors can induce changes in the state of DNA methylation, thus affecting gene expression in the development of lip and palate and leading to the occurrence of deformities.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the specific regularity of body surface resistance at different acupoints of the meridians associated with the uterus in reflecting menstrual cycle by observing the change in body surface resistance at source points, cleft points, confluent points, and non-specific points of three yin meridians of the foot in different menstrual cycles in normal female college students, to lay a foundation for the in-depth research on the mechanism of acupoints reflecting the function of zang-fu, and to provide a reference for the clinical and scientific research on the biophysical characteristics of menstrual cycle-related acupoints in normal female. METHODS: A total of 90 normal female college students were recruited. The source points, cleftpoints, confluent points, and non-specific points of three yin meridians of the foot which were located in the adjacent spinal segments of the uterus were selected, and body surface resistance was monitored for 30 consecutive minutes at the same time-points of menstrual phase, follicular phase, ovulation phase, and luteal phase to observe the change in the resistance of each acupoint during the menstrual cycle. RESULTS: There was no significant change in the resistance value of unilateral acupoints during the menstrual cycle (P>0.05). In the same period, there was no significant difference in resistance value between unilateral three source points, three cleftpoints, different acupoints of the spleen meridian, and different acupoints of lumbar 4 dermatomere (P>0.05). As for the comparison of resistance of the same acupoint at the left and right sides, Taichong (LR3) at the left side had a higher resistance value than that at the right side in the menstrual phase (P<0.05); Taibai (SP3) at the left side had a higher resistance value than that at the right side in the ovulation phase (P<0.05); Zhongdu (LR6) at the left side had a higher resistance value than that at the right side in the follicular phase, the ovulation phase, and the luteal phase (P<0.05); Taixi (KI3), Diji (SP8), and Sanyinjiao (SP6) at the left side had a higher resistance value than those at the right side in the menstrual phase, the follicular phase, the ovulation phase, and the luteal phase (P<0.05); Shuiquan (KI5) at the left side had a lower resistance value than that at the right side in these four phases (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The change trend of the resistance of the acupoints at the left and right sides associated with the three yin meridians of the foot can specifically reflect the change in qi and blood in the uterus during the menstrual cycle. The change trend of the source and cleft points of the liver meridian in the menstrual phase is different from that in the other phases, and the change trend of SP3, a source point of the spleen meridian, in the ovulation phase is different from that in the other phases, which suggests the specificity of meridian points in reflecting function. The mechanism by which meridian points reflect the function of zang-fu is associated with the meridian points and the spinal cord segments of zang-fu, and meanwhile, it has a specific relationship with the meridians to which meridian points belong and the attributes of acupoints.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To study the effect of polysaccharides of Radix scrophulariae on immune function in mice under nor-mal physiological and hypoimmunical state. METHODS:80 mice were randomly divided into normal group, model group,treat-ment high-dose,medium-dose,low-dose groups and physiological high-dose,medium-dose,low-dose groups,10 in each group. Mice in normal group and model group were received distilled water (10 mL/kg) intragastrically, treatment high-dose,medi-um-dose,low-dose groups and physiological high-dose,medium-dose,low-dose groups were administrated 0.16,0.08,0.04 g/kg drug,ig,once a day,for 7 d. From the third day, mice in model group and treatment high-dose,medium-dose,low-dose groups were respectively received cyclophosphamide(100 mg/kg),ip,for 4 d to induce hypoimmunical model. Carbon clearance test was adopted to determine the carbon clearance indexes and organs(chest, spleen)indexes of mice. Another 80 mice were grouped with the same administration, serum half hemolytic value (HC50) was determined after compressed Mianyang red blood cell sensitiza-tion. Then another 80 mice were grouped with the same administration,1% dinitrofluorobenzene method was used to induce de-layed hypersensitivity in mice;its ear swelling was determined,as well as IL-2,IL-4,immunoglobulin G(IgG),immunoglobulin M(IgM),γ-interferon(IFN-γ)contents in serum, and the proliferation in vitro of splenic lymphocytes were detected. RESULTS:High-dose polysaccharides can promote the increasing of immune organ and carbon clearance indexes(P<0.05);enhance the inten-sity of delayed type hypersensitivity (HC50 increasing)(P<0.01) and improve the decreasing of serum hemolysin in model mice (P<0.01);promote the splenic lymphocytes proliferation and increase IL-2,IL-4,IgG,IgM,IFN-γ contents in serum(P<0.05 or P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS:Polysaccharides can enhance the immune function in mice under normal physiological and hypoim-munical state induced by cyclophosphamide.

ABSTRACT

Objective Analyze the influence of applying background music on heart rate, blood pressure and dysphoric state of patients during gynecologial examination. Methods A total of 564 patients were randomly divided into music and control group 282 cases each.In control group, the 282 patients were just actualized the routine psychological care. And the other 282 patients of music group were actualized music therapy based on the routine psychological care. After these patients of music group entered examination room, the doctor broadcasted some good background music for them. After 30 minutes, the doctor recorded their heart rate and blood pressure changes and evaluated the anxiety level by using S-AI.Results After the patients of music group had listened to background music for 30 minutes, their systolic pressure and heart rate reduced evidently and the level of anxiety mitigated obviously. Conclusions Applying background music during gynecological examination can relieve anxiety emotion, stabilize heart rate and blood pressure and improve comfort of gynecological examination. It's an effective, simple and convenient nursing care method.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: This study was to investigate the effects of non-nutritive sucking on physiological and behavioral state of pre-term infants during tube feeding. METHOD: This nonequivalent, non-synchronized experimental study included 50 pre-term infants. An attempt was made to match gestational age and birth weight of infants in each group. Infants in the experimental group were given a pacifier 2 minutes before, during, and for 2 minutes after tube feeding. Infants in the control group did not get a pacifier. Both groups were tested at three stages for changes in the physiologic state and behavioral state-2 minutes before, during, and 2 minutes after feeding. Date was analyzed with SPSS WIN 10.0 using an chi-square-test, t-test, and repeated measures ANOVA. RESULT: Heart rates and oxygen saturation levels of the two groups were significantly different(P=.001, P=.000). The behavioral states of the two groups were significantly different during and post feeding(P=.000, P=.000). CONCLUSION: This result suggests non-nutritive sucking by using a pacifier is an effective intervention for pre-term infants during tube feeding.
